Applications for the Roundtable Advocacy Fellowship Program Are Due September 14th

We are adjusting the timeline for the next Roundtable Advocacy Fellowship to begin this fall. This is a part-time, contracted position for persons with significant lived experience navigating the criminal justice system and reentering the community.

The goals of the Fellowship program are two-fold:

  1. To enhance the capacity of the Roundtable to address the challenges of reentry and reintegration and support social justice in our community, and
  2. To develop the leadership capacity of the fellow by providing opportunities and mentorship to enhance their professional skills such as research, writing, and coordinating, planning, and leading activities.

The Fellow will jointly support the Reentry Advocacy Project (RAP) to engage formerly incarcerated men and women in the community and will serve as consumer advocates on various local and state task forces and initiatives.

Texas Criminal Background Screening Guide for Rental Housing Providers – A Project of the Reentry Roundtable

The Roundtable is pleased to recognize the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act and National Fair Housing Month by releasing two documents designed to provide instruction to landlords and property managers on how best to comply with fair housing law and guidelines when implementing criminal background screenings for housing applicants.

This Guide focuses on compliance with the federal Fair Housing Act and recent U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department guidance on the use of criminal records.
